PAUL’S
SPIRITUAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY
SINS
DECEPTION REVEALED
DEATH TO THE DICTATORSHIP OF A PERFORMANCE MENTALITY
Romans
7:10-13 #45.88

Paul
has been telling us that we need to understand that we are not “born again” by
keeping the Law. We have been free from
the dictatorship of the “performance mentality.”
One
way that God brings His elect unto salvation, is by the Law. The Law helps us see that we have failed in
our goodness to get to Heaven by our good works. Even if we didn’t know the Bible and lived in
a remote place in the world, God has written in our hearts the idea that we are
not by our works pleasing Him.
Four evidences of this
frustration and dictatorship
1. We
are proud of our achievements
2. We
are critical of others
3. We
are reluctant to admit our own failures
4. We
suffer from depression, discouragement and defeat
If
we are going to understand the “gospel of Jesus Christ unto salvation” this is
a very important subject at hand this morning. We are to get a grip on this
subject before we are saved and even after we are saved.
A
NOTE ABOUT SCRIPTURAL INTERPRETATION
·
If the apparent meaning, the first meaning that
suggests itself to you, is in obvious contradiction to some plain teaching of
the Scripture. it cannot be the truth; and therefore, you will have to seek for
another explanation.

COMMANDMENT,

LOOK
THAT THE LAW OF GOD
·
What God did in giving the Laws, was to outline
a way of life which would be well pleasing in His sight. Which is the idea that we need to understand?
God’s law teaches us what the holy and the happy life is really about, and a life
that is going to be pleasing to God.

· So
in other for a person to LIVE is to keep the LAW. But he must keep the LAW
perfectly and completely if he hopes to have eternal life. The problem is NO person has ever done that
and No sinful person can do it anyway.

· I
know your question would be, as well as mine. “Why does the Apostle continue to repeat his explanations? WHY? Does he keep on saying the same thing in
different ways?
I
can but repeat my previous answer: this:
v That the biblical doctrine of sin is absolutely crucial to an understanding
of the biblical doctrine of salvation ..
SIN
IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE FACE IN THE WORLD TODAY!
· There
is no amount of research into the causes of crime, or suggestions for combating
it, are likely to achieve much progress while Christian standards of morality
remain so widely disregarded.”

· Means
not just to give a false impression but to actively lead astray.
· To
cause a subject to believe or accept false ideas about something with the
implication of that one is led out of the right way into error and especially
to sin.
· To
cause or make someone lose their way. Proverbs 14:12
WHAT
WAS THE DECEPTION THAT PAUL WAS UNDER?
It
is the deception that caused Paul to think he could live under the law, fulfill
the law, and again experience life unto God through law-obedience. Of course Paul found out that he couldn’t and
found himself lost as to how to obtain eternal life.
· THE BOTTOM LINE OF
PERFORMANCE-BASED CHRISTIANITY, IT DOES NOT WORK 1 Corinthians 3:18; 2 Corinthians
11:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:3 and I Timothy 2:14
THERE ARE OTHER WAYS SIN DECEIVES:
1.
Sin promises satisfaction.
2.
Sin is a liar:
Sin will give you what you think is a good excuse to commit sin.
3.
Sin falsely promises an escape from punishment.
4. Sin
deceives in getting a person to
believe in his thinking that he is
acceptable to God because of his own merit and good works and will see no need
of salvation and no reason for trusting in Christ
