Every Christian needs to be disciple and understand the disciplines of Christian living.
^
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto US which are saved, it is the power of God."

I Corinthian 1:18

1 John 2:6, we ought to walk as He walked, putting our feet in His footprints, loyal to the divine will. It's a life pattern.

Discipleship is teaching the disciplines of Jesus Christ. I believe teaching the Word of God is by far the best way in making disciples. Jesus model what it meant to be a Christian, but it was His teaching and the work of the Holy Spirit that brought about discipleship.
John gives this crucial lesson. And so we hear our Lord say in John 12, "Verily, verily I say unto you, except a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal."
