Spirituality: Spiritual Tonics or Spiritual Biblical Discipline

SPIRITUAL TONICS by ~Abraham Feinberg
  • 1.  Stop worrying. Worry kills life.
  • 2.  Begin each day with a prayer. It will arm your soul.
  • 3.  Control appetite. Over-indulgence clogs body and mind.
  • 4.  Accept your limitations. All of us can’t be great.
  • 5. Don’t envy. It wastes time and energy.
  • 6. Have faith in people. Cynicism sours the disposition.
  • 7. Find a hobby. It will relax your nerves.
  • 8. Read a book a week to stimulate imagination and broaden your view.
  • 9. Spend some time alone, for the peace of solitude and silence.
  • 10. Try to want what you have, instead of spending your strength trying to get what you want.

OF COURSE ANY PERSON CAN DO THE ABOVE:  A CHRISTIAN OR JUST A RELIGIOUS PERSON:

Some people want to have the Christian spiritual life without Christ or the belief in the God of the Bible. Some people want the spirituality without the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Some people who don't want to believe in God, still don't want to go to Hell. Many people want to be known as a good person, but don't want revealed their inward soul and thoughts.
Many people and some Christians want to have a spiritual experience, and be really happy about life, so they want to try other methods of meditation and adopt other forms of spiritual activities other than Biblical discipline.

Many American Christians think they have discovered the answer to a Oporh spirituality is found in Buddhism, or Yoga, or Zen.

Far too many Christians (?) are too lazy to do daily Bible Reading, or even listen to a 13 minute video sermon to strength their spiritual life.
Most people have a weekend spiritual experience where they take in one hour of spiritual music and high sounding preaching. But too lazy during the week even to review the outline and notes from the sermon.
Many people want to have a high doze of spiritual energy  like they take the five hour doze energy drink in less then 1 minute it take to drink it.

Spiritual discipline is required to develop spiritual strength. Just picking out the pieces of different religious  and philosophies cannot be helpful but harmful.

Spiritual junk food  tells us happiness can be had without sacrifice.

Can I say that spiritual growth biblically promises joy but it comes with much prayer and study and discipline.

Can I say if all you do is sit in a pew at a local church on a weekend and never do more than that, you will never experience spirituality of Christ

Psalms 30 God Gives Life By His Grace and Charles Cancer progresss

I was eating with Charity at Bob Evans after our visit at the
research center

Charity last night after we got home from the Columbus Urology Research Center in Columbus Ohio, she read this chapter.

I said to Charity that I certainly think different today than I did yesterday.  While I really felt that my days were numbered, which is not a bad thing, today after our meeting in Columbus I sense maybe the Lord has given me new life.
We went to the Urology Research Center on Monday November 28, and had a session with the team.

Researchers want to find out if an investigational drug called GTx-758 can help men with advanced prostate cancer who need removal of male hormones (testosterone) to treat their cancer (hormonal therapy).

We had blood work done. Paper work to fill out and have our consent and know what this research was all about.

Then we went to have a physical by the Urologist Michael Gambla, and he was really great.

Then we had a EKG done.

We understand that we are going to start taking the drug around December 12, 2011, if all go well and all the blood work is finish.

This is going to be a 360 day test study and visit every week for the first several months and then month.

Charity and I have been seeking the Lord's direction, and wisdom on how to go in this matter.

As of now we believe this is the direction that is best for us.

1 I will praise you, Lord,
       because you rescued me.
You did not let my enemies laugh at me.

2 Lord, my God, I prayed to you,
       and you healed me.

 3 You lifted me out of the grave;
you spared me from going down to the place of the dead.

 4 Sing praises to the Lord, you who belong to him;
       praise his holy name.

5 His anger lasts only a moment,
but his kindness lasts for a lifetime.
Crying may last for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.

 6 When I felt safe, I said,
       "I will never fear."

7 Lord, in your kindness you made my mountain safe.
But when you turned away, I was frightened.

8 I called to you, Lord,
and asked you to have mercy on me.

9 I said, "What good will it do if I die
or if I go down to the grave?
    Dust cannot praise you;
it cannot speak about your truth.
10 Lord, hear me and have mercy on me.
       Lord, help me."

11 You changed my sorrow into dancing.
You took away my clothes of sadness,
       and clothed me in happiness.

12 I will sing to you and not be silent.
Lord, my God, I will praise you forever.
