Should We Have Services Sunday

Honest to goodness is this Thursday or Friday? So what happen to Thursday! It must have been all the blowing white snow that was fallen on my head.


SO DO WE WORSHIP AND HAVE FELLOWSHIP AT RIVERS OF JOY BAPTIST CHURCH ON SUNDAY?

I think of the mail carrier, rain, sleet or snow, hail, or high water, they always deliver the mail. So why should't Christians always find a way to come to church.

Its going to be a little bitter cold Sunday, there will be snow in the yard....

I understand reasons people don't come to church, I understand there are good reasons not to come to church. There are some bad reasons why people don't come to church.

Here is what I am saying, as I have said a number of times over the years, if you can get out 6 a.m. in the morning to go to work, then you should be able to get out at 9:30 a.m. and come an worship.

And if you are old and unable to drive, then you need to say home.

Remember folks who are not old and are able to drive will not come to worship the Lord and have fellowship with us.


If you can get into your car Sunday, then I would say, you might be able to come. Just saying.

Bob Temple Preaching January 2010

This past Sunday January 03 2010 my father in law Bob Temple spoke for us at the Rivers of Joy Baptist Church. From Romans 5:1- 3 and Romans 5:4-5. Three words we have seen on a wall.

1. Faith
2. Hope
3. Love

The idea we need to put into action those nouns.

1. Believe
2. Dream
3. Image

Amazing, we are in the moment of time, I took this photo at 5:57 and posted it on Facebook at 5:57 and then posted the photo on my Blogger at 5:59 p.m.

Thanks to Brian Williams for sending me two Lexmark 1/64 collection cars. My collection is growing. Brian is April's husband, who is the daugher of my lovely sister Ellen, who is the daughter to my wonderful Mom Pauline Whisnant, and they all live in Texas.

Tiger Wood's Redempton

Brtit Hume did great on O'Rally Monday. He was totally one with his comment. I hope someone will put his comment on YouTube.

I have recently taught that God “calls us to obedience” and not to results. Brit the journalist had the opportunity to offer a safe professional journalistic response to the conversation about Tiger Woods. I commend him because he chose to stand in obedience to God and support of his faith. Adda boy Brit. Now we need to keep in mind that he (Brit) could very well be the new target for what he said on national TV. Let’s keep Brit in our prayers.

Bible Class 509

Mrs. Bernice Fail, (member of FBC in Altoona, Ks.) said as she was leaving the church, "Pastor Charles, its like being in college when you teach us the Word of God." Charity said, "When you preach, you have to think, its like taking class 509."

I do not try to teach on a college level, but try to explain the text in which I am teaching. I don't try to speak from the little knowledge I have in my head at the moment I am teaching. I spend a lot of time studying from those who have a greater understanding of the text than I do.

I have a sermon manuscript before me when I am preaching, and give out an outline of the sermon to the people so they can follow alone. If they wish to study more later in the week.

While most preacher it seems, preach on a fifth grade level on purpose, I have refused to do that. Because adults are not 5th graders. Besides as we have learned on the other hand we don't know as much as a fifth grader do we?

Here you have Christians who have been saved for 20 years still on a fifth grade Bible level. And I desire to see them grow in the knowledge of wisdom of the Lord.

I know we are told to take a deep subject and made it simple. I think my teaching is simple. I have seen Theological Journals in which I can't understand at all.

The content of the message is propounded to say the leased. God's word while simple, is deep in in thought. Obedience. Simple right? To live it is not.

We begin another year. Its a new beginning by the calendar date. We can build on the pasted and remember the future is here, as they say its the first day of the rest of your life. So start today and make this day a day to be proud of.

The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. Its more than just Matthew 1:1, but John 1:1 AND Acts 1:1 and Philippians 1:1 and Romans 1:1-5 too.

Remember its not about physical beauty that really counts, its the inward beauty you have with the Lord Jesus Christ. Really.
