2015-01-09 07-23-13.089;

This cold morning here in McDermott Ohio on this January 09 2015

What about a good glass of green/fruit smoothie: Day 9 without sugar and bread and ice cream.  Coffee with out sugar! Yep.

2015-01-09 07-23-44.305

Yesterday, I rearranged my office a little. I do have a few three ring binders that have notes from sermons and lessons I have taught.

Well our business, Union Mills Bakery has had a good week.  Charity tells me they received an order from a business that is opening  up today. They are going to serve Union Mills cakes and brownies.

SOME THOUGHT THIS MORNING:

Belief, Unbelief, and Faith
21 Therefore the Lord heard and was full of wrath; And a fire was kindled against Jacob And anger also mounted against Israel, 22 Because they did not believe in God And did not trust in His salvation. (Psalms 78:21-22

Dealing with today Church programs and  pragmatists, and others who insist that they are Christians while what they say and do is marked as distinctly the fruit of unbelief, can be a very trying experience.

I suppose that is why our enemy will never stop his attacks on those who are called by the name of Christ to discourage and confuse them.

There are only two groups of people in the world. There are Christians, the elect, and everyone else, the non-elect. What separates them? What is the difference?

It is not that different streams of faith color people, which are all equal and going to the same place.

No, that is what the Emergents are selling, but that is most definitely not what God’s Word explicitly says.

No, the difference between those in Christ and everyone else is that the former are possessors of faith, which is the Greek word πιστις, which is transliterated as pistis It and it’s many grammatical forms are translated as “assurance,” “faith,” ”belief,” throughout the New Testament.

Before we define “unbelief,” let us define biblical faith, πιστις, so that we can see very clearly what marks the true believer from the false professor.

Carefully read the following passage my brethren.  Hebrews 3:7-19

The Bible In Print For The First Time

John WycliffeThe first hand-written English language Bible manuscripts were produced in the 1380's AD by John Wycliffe, an Oxford professor, scholar, and theologian. Wycliffe, (also spelled “Wycliff” & “Wyclif”), was well-known throughout Europe for his opposition to the teaching of the organized Church, which he believed to be contrary to the Bible. With the help of his followers, called the Lollards, and his assistant Purvey, and many other faithful scribes, Wycliffe produced dozens of English language manuscript copies of the scriptures. They were translated out of the Latin Vulgate, which was the only source text available to Wycliffe. The Pope was so infuriated by his teachings and his translation of the Bible into English, that 44 years after Wycliffe had died, he ordered the bones to be dug-up, crushed, and scattered in the river!

What has my attention, would you not think that the first hand written bible would not have been the very bible that God would have ordained to be the only translation?

http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-english-bible-history/

William TyndaleWilliam Tyndale was the Captain of the Army of Reformers, and was their spiritual leader. Tyndale holds the distinction of being the first man to ever print the New Testament in the English language. Tyndale was a true scholar and a genius, so fluent in eight languages that it was said one would think any one of them to be his native tongue. He is frequently referred to as the “Architect of the English Language”, (even more so than William Shakespeare) as so many of the phrases Tyndale coined are still in our language today.

Again William Tyndale was the first man to ever print the N.T. in the English language.

Would you not think that God would have had that N.T. to be the only correct bible?

William Tyndale wanted to use the same 1516 Erasmus text as a source to translate and print the New Testament in English for the first time in history. Tyndale showed up on Luther's doorstep in Germany in 1525, and by year's end had translated the New Testament into English. Tyndale had been forced to flee England, because of the wide-spread rumor that his English New Testament project was underway, causing inquisitors and bounty hunters to be constantly on Tyndale's trail to arrest him and prevent his project. God foiled their plans, and in 1525-1526 the Tyndale New Testament became the first printed edition of the scripture in the English language. Subsequent printings of the Tyndale New Testament in the 1530's were often elaborately illustrated.

JOHN 3:16

The King James Bible Good But Not Only Good Bible

1-Peter-1-2 Give Attention to Reading

Over the last few weeks I have add a few good men who are KJV only preachers, and there have been some who are rather harsh in their belief. They have said they will not even read anything where there is another transition used. They said if they see a verse that is not KJV they will scroll down to the next person.

I would challenge any KJV only person to prove that I preach a false doctrine.  I would challenge them to prove that what I preach is wrong, even if I would use another translation.

Now if they have the conviction that they are going to use the KJV I certainly have do problem with that conviction.  That had been mind for  many years.  But I have come to realize that there are come good translations that is as good as the kjv.

I do not believe that the kjv is the only world of God. I do not believe you are committing sin if you speak from the NASV.

All these post is about my experiences in ministry. Most of us pastors and preachers are in a small church, in a small community or even in a small part of a town or county.

I certainly realize that the John MacArthur’s the Dave Jeremiah’s, the Charles Price, and Charles Stanley, and the other big time TV preachers are doing a great work.

But with that said, it does mean that we who are in the vast majority should just do nothing.

I highly suggest   that every one would follow these men mention.  I have, and have profit from them.

2014-07-23 07-15-23.274

I am fully responsible for what I do and serve the Lord.  There are others that are better examples of the work of the ministry. But that does not negate the fact that each of us are responsible to do the work in which the Lord has called us.

I have no problem for any Christian to follow the for mention men and ministry. I encourage them to do so.

But with all that said these are the things that I do to do the work of the ministry and preach and study the word of God.

HOW SHOULD I BEGIN STUDYING THE BIBLE

charles e whisnant

How Can I Understand The Bible For All Its Worth?
how can i know what the preacher is teaching is what the bible really say what he says?

Very few Christians know how to even approach how  to read the Bible with real deep understanding. They may know what it says, but they may not know why its said it. They know John 3:16 but don't really know what it means?

"For God so loved the world" How does God love the world? "That He gave is only begotton Son?" What does that mean?    "For whosoever believes" Who are the whosoever?  What does it mean to "believe in Him."  "Should not perish"  Perish from what? "But have eternal life?" Eternal Life!

First qualification to understand the bible as it is meant to be understood is one needs to be a person who has become a believer in Jesus Christ by the means of salvation.
second: how to approach this matter of understanding the bible?

Second: Read it. Just read it. Start with the New Testament.  Mark and then John and then Matthew and Luke. Why?  “Martin Luther said that the Bible is the ‘cradle of Christ.’ All biblical history and prophecy ultimately point to Jesus. The book of Mark is quick and fast-paced, while John focuses on the things Jesus claimed about himself. Mark tells about what Jesus did, while John tells about what Jesus said. In John are some of the simplest and clearest passages, such as John 3:16, but also some of the deepest and most profound passages. It appeals to students and is worthy of study.”  Then read the rest of the N.T. Then you are ready for the O.T.

Third, I think you need to understand that the Bible is "the word of God" written in human language by human men. That is amazing in the first place. The bible is not just men writting a book but was directed by God by His Sprit to write the books.  While they wrote in their language and style and form, they were directed and lived in a manner that God directed them to do, their lives was in direct direction of God.

Fourth: You need to keep in mind that the Bible is not just about literature book. There is no other book like the Bible that gives the direct blessings of God upon it.  Any other book you can read and lay down and never give it much thought.

  • The Bible is not a book that you can read and put down and out of mind.
  • The Bible is not to be read to be entertained by the stories.
  • The Bible is not written to give you a history lesson on the nation of Israel and the Jews but is historically correct.
  • The Bible is not written to made you feel better after you read the Psalms but reading the Psalms will give you comfort..
  • The Bible is not written so you can have knowledge.
  • The Bible is not written primary to answer all the questions about all things.
  • The Bible is not a science book but is a scientifically  correct.
  • The Bible is a book that gives us the message of Jesus Christ.
  • The Bible can not be read as a myth or as a fictitious story.
  • The Bible is a book that gives us the message of Jesus Christ.
  • The Bible is not to be read for merely information, but for salvation:  i.e. deliverances from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ.  Synonyms: redemption, deliverance, reclamation.
  1. Definition of Science: (1) the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. (2) a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws: (3 )knowledge, as of facts or principles; knowledge gained by systematic study.

Fifth: When you pick up the book, the Bible:(Today we have other avenue in which we can read the Bible: like on our smart phones, the computer, the Verizon Tablet, the Kindle Fire, or even on a tape recorder

  • First you need to realize it's an amazing book.
  • Second, its a book that God of the universe and creation of all mankind has given to us.
  • Third, its God's account  or story or narrative, that is not fictitious but true  about mankind, and mankind's relationship with Himself.
  • Fourth, The Bible is the means whereby we find the truth about life presently and the future.
  • Fifth, The Bible is about redemption, salvation, Jesus Christ, Heaven and Hell.
  • Sixth, The Bible is to be believed, what you read is to be believed  as truth.

Preachers and Preaching

preaching 2

There is an conspiracy out there that some have stated as truth. Yes, some say that all translations of the Bible are false and are perverted and of the devil.  That is other than the KJV!

Some say you only need to read the KJV for your sermon preparation.

Even if you are a KJV only bible reading person, we need to understand the text ourselves, then give a right explanation or meaning of the text to our people, and apply the doctrine correctly as the writer had given it to the original people.

I have found that you have the responsibility to read the text, understanding the text and explain the text. Don't read more than the text and don't teach less then the text is saying and don't skip the text, teaching as if you believe it.

Of course as a Pastor/Teacher, and Expositor of the Bible, we would hope that we are teaching the truth from the Bible and are rightly interpreting the passage of Scripture.

But with that said, there are many views of the interpretation to which we must allow for those views even if we do not agree with? Why? We are not perfect in our interpretation as much as we would like to be.

Years ago a man in the church said "Why are you not giving a good sermon, your preaching is off, you seem tried and unprepared?" I said "You are totally right!. I said "As a Bi-vocational worker and preacher, working 40 to 50 hours a week and four children I am tired."

Resources from moving from Exegesis to Exposition

1. Homiletic. 2. Exposition. 3. What the text means. 4. Art.

From 1. Personal preparation. 2. Analyze the Text's Content. 3. Expose the Text's Structure. 4. Apprehend the Text's Intent. 5. Identify the Timeless Truth.

To arrive at a true interpretation of the text and do a right exegesis i.e. critical explanation or interpretation of a text, especially of scripture requires careful study. This requires a word study, a doctrinal study, a historical study of the setting of the text. Far too many sermons never get to the real meaning of the meaning of the passages. You simply are perverting the Bible when you do not interpret the meaning of the text.

When doing exposition preaching you don't choose your sermon of the week. You take what is next in the text. Sometimes I don't like that method. You come to the text you are not very good at all doing. Romans 12:13 is coming up this Sunday.

Even if you are a KJV only bible reading preacher, we need to understand the text ourselves, then give a right explanation or meaning of the text to our people, and apply the doctrine correctly as the writer had given it to the original people.

And our sermon needs to be theological correct based on passages of scripture in its context. We are not to make the passage say what it does not say. And that happens a lot.
