Scofield Edition Bible, Roanoke Baptist Temple, and Current Connection
I pulled out my old bible I used back in the day this morning (1962)
I taught the book of Psalms in the youth class for a while from this Bible and I used Charles Spurgeon's Treasure of David
I used my Scofield Bible that I had in 1962 when I lived on 505 21st Street N.W. in Roanoke, VA and the phone number was DI 32131. And we lived near Sandra Richardson whom I dated all though High School live next to us, , and close to Al Myers and Barbara Eakins now married.
Al and Barbara Myers 2013
(I would love to have a photo of them. Well I might have
We were on a Youth trip back in 1965 I believe. The photo to the left at the top is Donald and the photo to the right is Al. And Barbara is in the group.
The photo to in the bottom left is Barbara Jean Campbell
and the others which is hard to tell is a group from our youth
I mention Barbara Jean Campbell because of our recent friend 2013 of Dwight Haynes family and Dwight is related to Barbara Jean and that we had them in our church in July.

Church to Former Pastor/Staff: Sorry we treated you like trash
Church to Former Pastors: Sorry We Treated You Like Trash
from MMI Weblog by Todd Rhoades
If
you’ve been a pastor for more than ten minutes, you have heard of
churches that churn through pastors and staff. For one reason or
another, the church can not keep people for more than a couple of years
before they are looking to go somewhere else. Sometimes it is the
pastor’s fault, other times it is a stiff necked congregation, whichever
it is, it is depressing… and significantly lessens a church’s spiritual
impact. Earlier this week we came across the story of a church in
Indiana that recently brought back a series of former pastors for a
service of corporate repentance.Through the service, the church recognized its rebellious spirit over three decades, and apologized to several pastors by performing a foot washing service.

I can name a few churches like this: Most of the time the pastor of that church was the problem. Two churches there were a few people in the church that was the problem. I have never been fired from a church where I was the pastor. Only two churches did I resign because of the people. Two churches I resign because I felt I should, but the people were wonderful.

Getting Thrown Under The Bus Part One
I am so glad I can laugh or smile after all the years of getting thrown under the bus. First time with I was 19 years old, first year in Seminary, when I went back home and worked with Southall Baptist Church in Danville, Va. the pastor throw me out of the church. W.C. Bradley that is. His son asked me to sign a paper that his dad treated me right. Are you kidding me. My Mom warned me that would happen, but I didn't believe her. But it happen. I was hired as a Youth Pastor back in 1967 at the church, but W.C. said not to tell anyone. Strange. I begin to teach a Sunday Night Teen class at had 3 to start with, but after four weeks we had over 40 teens. I worked at the church office every day too. I loved every day and every Sunday. But W.C. was so jealous of other preacher. W.C. was one of my Dad's good friends when Dad was living. My Mom worked for W.C. too. But he could not stand other preacher very well. The church had over 500 each week, down from over 900 before I came.
What go me in trouble was when I ask if I could preach for Dr. Barber at the Baptist Tabernacle. He said if you do you are fired. And not only that I was successful in the Youth, that was what my Mom said.
W.C. had me painting his rental houses for a while, Mom said that would happen too. I was not smart enough at the time to figure out preachers. My Dad love preachers and I believe that was the attitude of all preacher. Boy was I wrong.

W.C. said you are fired, get out of town. I almost cried. There went $80.00 per week. Good money in 1967.

Yes I was painting a house.

So in August of 1967 I returned to Bible Baptist Seminary, in Arlington TX. I wondered if I should have gone back but by the grace of God I went back.
I FOUND OUT IF YOU KISS THE FEET OF PREACHERS OR PROFESSORS
YOU COULD BE WELL LIKED.
I do love Google Images
If I had only had..........
No! I have really had some wonderful experiences.
Last Sunday I did preach from Romans. Paul's journey was not so good either.
